In the adjacent ‘cobbler’ county is Castle Ashby dating back to around 1600, a magnificent house with equally outstanding gardens. The house is not open to visitors, but the formal gardens and the arboretum are. Dogs can run freely in the woodland, on short leads elsewhere. There’s a tearoom and it’s fully accessible.
